I feel the lump in my throat swell as I hear the very words I knew would follow. You think my scars along my arms are a way to gain attention, or an attempt at dramatics. But you couldn't be further from the truth. My scars, however scathingly painful they may be to look upon, provide a gentle reminder of how far I have come and how strong I am. I don’t seek pity from others and I don’t take pleasure in being miserable. Instead, it is within these marks that I find solace, warmth and joy.
