Description
He reached out, tentatively, to brush his hand across the young wolf's head. The animal seemed to relax immediately, leaning into the touch, and Father Thomas felt a wave of peace wash over him. He crouched down, still wary, and the wolf remained motionless, watching him with a calm intelligence. The priest could not deny at that moment an instant connection between them.
Father Thomas' heart beat faster, and he knew he had a decision to make, would he accept this animal as a companion and a friend, or would he keep his distance and remain alone? He had no family here in his small parish. After a few moments of internal deliberation, he decided to trust his instincts. He presented a scrap of rabbit meat to the wolf, and the creature accepted it gladly, the winter had been long and particularly cold this year and the young wolf looked thin.
The bond between the priest and the wolf began to grow. Every night, after the evening mass, Father Thomas would leave the church, and the wolf would be waiting. He would give the animal scraps of food that he had saved, and the wolf always seemed grateful for the offering. Over time, the two of them started to communicate through glances and gestures.
The villagers, who had initially been wary of the wolf, grew accustomed to the presence of the animal, and his relationship with Father Thomas.
Though life was still difficult, the kindness of the wolf filled Father Thomas with a new sense of purpose. He was no longer alone out in the wilderness, and the two of them were bound together in a friendship that seemed almost spiritual.
The months passed, and the wolf grew larger and more powerful. Father Thomas, too, grew in strength and wisdom. He continued to serve his parishioners and the wolf with equal devotion.
The years passed, and the wolf by his side, Father Thomas slowly began to see a new, brighter future ahead. He had found a companion in the wild, and his faith in the natural world had been restored. No matter where his path might lead, Father Thomas would never forget the kindness of the wolf.

Wonderful drama and mood. Love the art and story. I thought he was going to turn into a werewolf and rip the priest's head off, but your version is so much nicer.
